A little addition to the last post, one of my experiences on a train.

Last year I spent a couple of weeks working my way though Europe and briefly just out of it between Berlin and Milan, as part of this trip I decided it would be a good idea to take advantage of a couple of sleeper trains, transport and accommodation all rolled into one. You do miss some landscape and in Europe this can be a shame, but I had limited time and decided it would be best for a couple of legs.

Now apart from border control at 01:00 and limited facilities which I can live with I had one small challenge to overcome. Its something I really should have realised. I’ve seen many pictures of sleeper cabins and countless ones on T.V. but I didn’t quite appreciate the size of a bunk on a train.

What you have to know is I am 6’2″ (188 cm) tall and its about 2′ (60 cm) across my shoulders, in short I’m not a small guy – the bunks I experienced were not exactly spacious.

It hasn’t put me off using sleeper trains again, but don’t be as dumb as I was.
